  • The Charleston food truck community rallied to support Mark Prynkiewicz after he fell from a freezer while opening a physical location and hurt himself. The group held an event yesterday at Foxbank Plantation and is planning more fundraisers today at Carolina Bay—plus another on March 30 in North Charleston—to help with his recovery.  My TV Charleston

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal collision in McClellanville that occurred Wednesday, March 19th just after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 45 and Old Georgetown Road—initial reports indicate the vehicle left the roadway, struck trees, and its driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.  ABC 4 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Watch Rooftop Kitchen and Spirits at the Restoration Hotel has added new shade covering and a fresh spring menu to boost seating during hot summer months—offering locals and visitors a 360-degree view of downtown Charleston.  Charleston City Paper

CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities arrested Parker William Adams, a 23-year-old Charleston man, on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor after a search of his Brisbane Drive home uncovered several devices with images and videos of child sexual abuse material featuring victims aged 5—14, and he was booked into the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.  Count On 2
  • Summerville police arrested Sincere Lee after he fired a weapon multiple times near Woodduck Drive and Canvasback Drive on Tuesday and charged him with four counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime; he is held at the Dorchester County Detention Center.  My TV Charleston
  • Brandon Simons, accused of killing dentist Dr. Nathan Head and injuring nine people in a November crash on Highway 17 in Ravenel, was arrested on March 19 for reckless homicide and multiple felony DUI charges — the judge denied bond for the DUI charge due to his traffic history.  The Post and Courier
  • Court documents show that Jaremy Alexander Smith from Marion—who pled guilty in January to killing a New Mexico state police officer—is charged with kidnapping and murdering Florence County paramedic Phonesia Machado-Fore whose body was found near an abandoned home on Jones Drive in Dillon County, and he will be sentenced for the officer’s murder next month while facing 17 charges in connection with the paramedic’s death.  ABC 4 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After a harsh winter, the S.C. Department of Transportation is calling on residents to report potholes on state roads—this will help start repairs needed as paving season approaches. Repairs will begin in coming weeks to fix the damage caused by the cold and snow.  The Post and Courier

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, two Lowcountry birth equity advocacy groups, Berkeley County First Steps & The BEE Collective, are hosting free events at Trident Technical College to raise Black maternal health awareness. The Friday event features a documentary screening and panel discussion from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., while the Saturday symposium runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with workshops and advocacy panels.  ABC 4 News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • North Charleston will open a design district along the Cooper River this fall that will host national and local home furnishings companies plus feature an 8,200-square-foot rooftop restaurant. The project is part of the redevelopment of the old Navy Base led by Jamestown real estate firm and its partners.  Charleston Regional Business Journal
