- ➤ Smash City Burgers will partner with Hoops Against Homelessness on March 30 from noon to 6 p.m. at 47 Cooper St to benefit a local shelter—nine local chefs will serve smashburgers and fries while guests purchase $25 tickets that lock in a time slot with the chef revealed on the day of the event. - ➤ On March 26 a fire in Awendaw on the 5800 block of Seewee Road was reported at 4:30 a.m. and fire crews kept the blaze under control—officials continue to investigate its cause while the burn ban remains in effect. ABC 4 News

- ➤ Chase Delpino, a 13-year-old from Daniel Island, built custom oyster shucking tables in his garage using his father’s quality wood — he crafted tables with local designs such as one painted with the state flag. He sold his first table for $300 to $350 last week — and he plans to have more ready by Father’s Day. The Daniel Island News

- ➤ Charleston author Stacy Willingham’s debut thriller A Flicker in the Dark sold 1 million copies — a rare feat reached by only .003 percent of books — and made the New York Times bestseller list twice. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is using its Green Shell Relay program to build oyster reefs by moving live oysters from crowded creek beds to barren ones—helping to stabilize shorelines, filter water, and support wildlife. The effort, now in its second season, faces challenges with limited oyster shells but remains key to protecting local coastal habitats. ABC 4 News

2025 Water Mission Walk for Water
Water Mission’s 19th annual Walk for Water is Saturday, March 29 at 9 a.m. at Riverfront Park in North Charleston. Every day, millions of people around the world walk miles just to collect water. This water is often dirty and unsafe and makes them sick. On March 29, 5,000 people will gather at Riverfront Park to raise awareness of the global water crisis—which affects 2 billion people—and raise funds to support Water Mission's safe water solutions around the world. Over the last two decades, the Walk for Water has grown into a flagship event in Charleston. In 2024, we welcomed more than 4,000 walkers and raised more than $580,000 for Water Mission’s work. This year, we aim to raise enough funds to provide safe water for 14,000 people around the world.
