- ➤ Water Mission, a nonprofit building safe water solutions, will hold its annual Walk for Water today at Riverfront Park in North Charleston starting at 8 a.m. — the walk begins at 9 a.m. as thousands gather to raise funds and awareness for clean water while food trucks, live music, and interactive activities add to the event. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Romell President, the son of Quinn Pierre Connor, filed a wrongful death lawsuit on March 27 against Charleston County jail staff and the sheriff's office, alleging that staff failed to check on his father after he ingested fentanyl in his cell on Oct. 23, 2023. Connor died at about 12:15 p.m. after inmates and medical staff could not revive him (an autopsy reported acute fentanyl toxicity and the coroner ruled the death accidental). The Post and Courier
- ➤ Aubrey Dupree Tucker (40) was sentenced to life in prison without parole by Judge Dale Van Slambrook for the June 9 murder of his then-girlfriend in Goose Creek after a four-day trial. My TV Charleston

- ➤ Charleston County has launched the Local Housing Trust Fund to boost affordable housing by providing below-market loans to developers and organizations for new or preserved workforce housing—applications will open in May and the fund is supported by the local Accommodations Tax. - ➤ Dominion Energy will close a lane on Cosgrove Bridge for scheduled maintenance and natural gas line inspection on April 12 and 13 — traffic will be merged into center and left lanes from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day and Interstate 26 exits remain open. - ➤ A state Senate bill will go to the House to lower liquor liability insurance minimums that have forced some downtown Charleston businesses to close because high costs made operations unsustainable. Senate Bill 244 would reduce requirements to $500,000 for bars and $300,000 for veteran clubs — a change business owners say will ease their financial challenges. My TV Charleston
