  • The Benton family lost two sons on Christmas Eve in a fatal car crash and then had their Moncks Corner home destroyed by a fire on March 26th—neighbors have rallied with fundraisers and MealTrain drives to support their recovery.  The Post and Courier

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Moncks Corner police said the railroad crossing at Altman Street and E Railroad Avenue was closed Saturday after technical malfunctions—damage from a March 12 crash had left it in disrepair—and it remains off limits while CSX is notified and drivers use alternate routes via E Main Street.  Count On 2

CRIME NEWS

  • Three people were injured outside an illegal club in North Charleston — deputies are investigating the incident.  Live 5 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Patriots Point hosted a tribute and educational event on March 29 to honor Vietnam veterans and mark National Vietnam War Veterans Day by recalling the withdrawal of the last U.S. combat troops from Vietnam on March 29, 1973. The event brought veterans together and featured historical exhibits that shared stories of sacrifice—reminding community members of the enduring impact of the conflict.  ABC 4 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • South Carolina Marine Col. Charles Del Pizzo ejected from an F-35B jet near the CHS Airport in North Charleston in September 2023 when the plane’s systems failed during bad weather—he was later relieved of command amid questions about his decision-making.  The Post and Courier

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Harbinger and Harken cafes, which opened in 2017 and 2019, are releasing their first cookbook with over 40 recipes from favorite menu items — from tamari cookies to savory treats. The cookbook will be available online and in-store on May 8.  Charleston City Paper

  • The Credit One Charleston Open has been played on Daniel Island since March 19 and will run until April 6—featuring qualifying matches, top players, and fan activities like live music and pickleball.
