  • Today, several streets in Charleston are closed to support the 48th annual Cooper River Bridge Run, with key routes such as Calhoun and Meeting streets reopening after post-event cleanup—Mount Pleasant faces similar early closures on Coleman Blvd and the Ravenel Bridge. Officials urge drivers to plan alternative routes until roads open gradually later in the day.  ABC 4 News
  • The 52nd annual Summerville Family YMCA Flowertown Festival draws thousands to historic downtown Summerville as vendors & local artisans help support youth sports and wellness programs.   • Mount Pleasant police are investigating an indecent exposure incident that happened Wednesday just after 5 p.m. at Michaels in Wando Crossing—officers report a male dressed in all black exposed himself to a shopper before fleeing and losing sight of him—and urge anyone with information to contact them.  ABC 4 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Local businesses in Charleston are getting ready for an economic boost today from the Cooper River Bridge Run as roughly 36,000 participants race and celebrate downtown. Owners at spots like El Jefe Texicana Cantina are extending their hours—hoping to capture increased revenue from the nonstop activity.  ABC 4 News

  • Mayor William Cogswell will declare Charleston a Pinwheel City on April 7 at 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Lake on the corner of Rutledge Avenue and Broad Street — this event will join the Children’s Trust of South Carolina, the Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center, and Charleston Police Chief Chito Walker — to raise awareness for child abuse prevention.  My TV Charleston

  • Today thousands of runners and walkers will gather for the 48th annual Cooper River Bridge Run with racers expected in their assigned section by 7:00 a.m. and the race starting at 8:00 a.m.—the route covers the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge and finishes near Marion Square while temperatures may reach a record high of 89°.  Count On 2
  • Today, the Charleston RiverDogs kick off their comeback season with their first home game against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. The team offers special promotions — the first 2,000 guests will receive a free magnet schedule, early fans can claim replica jerseys on Saturday and children will receive yo-yos on Sunday — and the game ends with a fireworks display.  Live 5 News
