- ➤ The 2025 season of the Charleston and West Ashley Farmers Markets begins at Marion Square on April 12 and at Ackerman Park on April 23 as local growers and artisans offer fresh produce, herbs, flowers, plants, crafts, food from trucks, and live entertainment through late fall. The markets are organized by the City of Charleston's Office of Cultural Affairs — in collaboration with the Parks Department and Special Events Committee. ABC 4 News

- ➤ West Coast apparel and home decor brand Jenni Kayne will open its first South Carolina store in downtown Charleston at 364 King St. suite B — a 2,340-square-foot space offering apparel, accessories, home decor and skin care — and will host an opening event April 12 from 2 to 6 p.m. with food from 167 Oyster Bar and drinks from CHANDON Reserve Blanc de Blancs and Lalo Tequila. - ➤ Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will perform their farewell tour at Charleston Music Hall on April 13 at 7:30 p.m.—founding member Jimmie Fadden is eager to celebrate the band's legacy with local fans. - ➤ The S.C. House passed a bill on Wednesday to require hands-free cell phone use while driving with lawmakers voting 85—25 as $50 million in federal highway funds were at stake. Rep. Bill Taylor pushed for the measure to curb distracted driving and the bill will now move to the state Senate. Charleston City Paper

- ➤ America's largest keelboat regatta in the Western Hemisphere is underway at Patriots Point and runs through April 13, featuring 170 boats with over 700 crew members in 18 classes across six courses. Event director Randy Draftz said the regatta draws crews from 27 states (and several countries) and is expected to boost the local economy by over $6 million, with the first pursuit starting today at 9:30 a.m. ABC 4 News
- ➤ Competitive youth fishing in Georgetown County has grown as programs like SALTT let students from over 40 schools join contests, with about 50 students competing on March 29 at the Carroll Ashmore Campbell Marine Complex. Organizers plan to expand events with more tournaments in Charleston and Beaufort counties—efforts that include free boat access to help overcome participation barriers. The Post and Courier
