- ➤ The traveling art exhibits Beyond Van Gogh — now including Beyond Monet — will open at Festival Hall in downtown Charleston from July 11 to Sept. 1. The immersive display will project nearly 800 works, featuring Van Gogh's Starry Night and Monet's Water Lilies, to give visitors a new way to experience art. The Post and Courier

- ➤ On April 12, the Senate Finance Committee approved its version of the state’s $14.5 billion budget that eliminated earmarks. - ➤ Bishopville’s retired Marine Maj. James Capers — aged 87 — fought in Vietnam and is still waiting for the Medal of Honor as supporters urge lawmakers to waive the five-year rule; Rep.
