- ➤ On May 1, dozens of local protesters gathered in Ladson outside the Elbit Systems of America facility (including groups such as Free Palestine Charleston and Lowcountry Action Committee) to demand that Charleston County stop using taxpayer funds for a company that makes weapons used in Gaza. Security left the site at 2 p.m. after employee vehicles departed the facility. ABC 4 News
- ➤ The Summerville no-kill shelter hosted a celebration that featured a video tribute highlighting its commitment to saving dogs—showing community support and the shelter’s ongoing efforts in animal care. Live 5 News
- ➤ El Jefe on King Street hosted a firefighter appreciation day today, serving free food and drinks to about 50 local firefighters as a thank you for their service. Owner Roy Neal said the event will expand with police appreciation days in the future—community support remains strong. ABC 4 News
