- ➤ North Charleston police released new details in a domestic-related shooting on Monday night that left two people dead—one victim and the suspect who later took his own life—and three injured, including one believed to be his girlfriend. ABC 4 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Tuesday afternoon, the South Carolina Board of Education voted to remove 10 books from public schools and classrooms, raising the banned total to 22 & shifting the state ahead of Utah in book bans. The decision came after a parent challenged the titles & followed a review by the Instructional Materials Review Committee under Regulation 43-170 that lets any parent file a complaint about sexual content. - ➤ Rep. Gilliard is urging lawmakers to pass a hate crimes bill before the General Assembly adjourns on May 8 to impose stronger penalties for crimes targeting race, religion, or sexual orientation—named after the late Senator Clementa Pinckney. ABC 4 News
- ➤ Charleston's Office of Resilience and Sustainability launched WaterWise Charleston last Tuesday in West Ashley to share key details on water conservation and local projects.
