- ➤ Agave Cantina + Azul Mexicano are asking locals to donate after two swimmers, an 18-year-old and 28-year-old cook Guillermo Quintero-Camacho, drowned at Breach Inlet. The restaurants have posted signs to help cover the $10,000 cost to repatriate the cook to Mexico so his family can say goodbye. ABC 4 News

- ➤ The 54th Annual Charleston Greek Festival took place to share Greek culture with local residents—organizers featured traditional foods, music, and dancing to celebrate heritage and community pride. Live 5 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ College of Charleston is hosting its commencement ceremony for the Class of 2025 today where graduates will receive diplomas and mark a key academic milestone (captured in video coverage). Live 5 News
- ➤ Students from several Charleston County schools built plywood boats under the guidance of Lowcountry Maritime School's Rachel Bergquist — a Texan geographer turned boatbuilder — and launched them in Colonial Lake on May 9. They learned boatbuilding skills during the academic year. The Post and Courier
- ➤ Hundreds of students graduated this week at Charleston Southern University’s spring commencement—over 460 diplomas were awarded in five ceremonies. - ➤ Lawmakers removed consumer protections from a sweeping energy bill that now heads to Gov. Henry McMaster’s desk for signature, fueling fears that residents may pay more for energy. The legislation will allow utilities to build new power stations, including a planned natural gas plant in rural Colleton County + critics warned that such changes could lead to higher costs.
