- ➤ Internationally celebrated cellist Paul Wiancko leads the 2025 Bank of America Chamber Music series at Spoleto Festival USA—33 performances of 11 programs over just over two weeks at Dock Street Theatre. He will perform in nearly every show and will appear with Kronos Quartet on June 2 at Charleston Music Hall while featuring a world premiere by Iranian singer Mahsa Vahdat in a lineup that blends eras and styles. - ➤ Timothy Myers, music director of the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra, is planning four shows that will feature nearly 100 young musicians selected from 513 auditions—aiming to offer early-career artists a vibrant platform. The performances include a sold-out Mozart concert today at 2:30 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, with additional concerts scheduled for May 31, June 5, and June 7 at the Gaillard Center. - ➤ Moncks Corner approved impact fees for new development on May 21, setting fees at $4,805 for single-family homes and $2,606 for townhomes — costs that will be added to new homes to help fund rising service needs. A study shows the town expects 4,550 more homes over the next decade with a projected population increase of 67.6 percent. The Post and Courier
- ➤ Lawmakers reached a $14.7 billion state budget deal that includes $3 million in legislative pay raises — increasing salaries from $10,400 and district expense stipends from $1,000 to $2,500 a month, marking the first raise since 1995.
