  • On Memorial Day, Dorchester County held its 4th annual Remembrance Ceremony to honor fallen heroes at the Human Services Building in Summerville at 10 a.m. Retired Lieutenant Colonel Robert Ticknor served as keynote and detailed the legacy of about 30 local heroes (spanning conflicts from World War I to recent times).  ABC 4 News
  • A fifth-grade student who saved her uncle on Mar. 23 by calling 911 and translating for her family will receive a life-saving award Wednesday at Windsor Hill Arts Infused Elementary School—an honor from Dorchester County EMS for her quick action.  Count On 2

  • A shooting on May 25 in Little River left 10 people with gunshot wounds and one person injured from an altercation at a private Memorial Day weekend gathering at a charter boat dock—authorities said a responding police officer accidentally shot himself in the leg and that the investigation is ongoing.  ABC 4 News

  • Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum held a Taps Across America tribute on Memorial Day (May 26 at 3 p.m.) to honor fallen service members with a one-minute silent moment and live Taps performance.  Count On 2
  • Over the weekend, artists turned Marion Square into an open-air gallery during Piccolo Spoleto’s Outdoor Art Exhibition, which runs until June 8. Across the street, locals gathered at Wragg Square where vendors and performers entertained visitors—captured in photos by reporter Olivia Meier—while hundreds enjoyed art, music and stories.  Charleston City Paper
  • French vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant will debut newly arranged jazz ballads tomorrow at 8 p.m. at the Charleston Gaillard Center during Spoleto Festival USA and will be backed by the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra with arrangements by Darcy James Argue—critics say the performance marks a departure from her usual style.  Charleston City Paper
