- ➤ Goose Creek is hosting its largest community baby shower on June 7 at New Life Christian Fellowship on Liberty Hall Road from 10 a.m. to noon. Healing Hurts Ministries and Molina Healthcare of South Carolina are teaming up to help new parents by providing free baby essentials and local agencies offering postpartum information and Medicaid support — the event will also offer a chance to win a car seat, stroller, or crib. - ➤ Animal shelters in the Lowcountry kicked off their second annual lifesaving adoption event yesterday to ease overcrowding by offering adoption deals on all pets. Charleston Animal Society, Berkeley Animal Center and Dorchester Paws will run Lowcountry Paws Unite through Sunday—community members are urged to adopt available pets. Count On 2

- ➤ The daughter of Rev. Daniel Simmons Sr.—one of the nine people killed at Mother Emanuel AME Church—is releasing a documentary called 'One last breath' to honor his legacy as June 17 marks the tenth anniversary of the tragedy. The film will show on Wednesday at the American Theater at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and it explores themes of faith, resilience, and racial equality. ABC 4 News
- ➤ Vince Gill will perform in North Charleston on June 6 at the North Charleston Coliseum in a special show that marks his 50 years in music. He will play his well-known hits & debut new songs for local fans. The Post and Courier
- ➤ The fifth annual Lowcountry Juneteenth Week Festival will run from June 16 to June 23—beginning with early events on June 7—and will feature music, history, culture and family fun across the region. - ➤ Sections of Old Towne Road will have its northbound right lane closed for underground utility work later this June between the fire station and Charles Towne Landing. The closures will occur over two nights (June 18, 9 p.m. to June 19, 6 a.m. and June 19, 9 p.m. to June 20, 6 a.m.) and drivers should plan alternate routes. ABC 4 News
- ➤ State officials and experts urged voters to update their registration before the May deadline as the 2026 primary nears—key races include governor, U.S. Senate, and local offices. Political science professor Dr. Chase Meyer added that early action is vital to address issues like education, infrastructure, and healthcare—voters are urged to prepare now. Count On 2
