  • A wrongful death lawsuit was filed against downtown bar Uptown Social on behalf of Alexander ‘AJ’ Jennings’ estate after the hit-and-run on July 5th that killed the Outer Banks crew member, alleging the bar contributed to driver Nicholas Price’s intoxication—his charges still remain pending.  Count On 2

CULTURE NEWS

  • Piccolo Spoleto’s 36th annual sand sculpting competition held on Saturday turned the Isle of Palms’ front beach into a vibrant art display as participants worked on 55 sites in four categories with individual and team entries. Judges honored the entries with awards for Most Creative, Best Architectural and Best of Show—Charleston Drip Company claimed the top prize.  Charleston City Paper

  • South Carolina improved its child well-being ranking today from 40th to 38th in the 2025 KIDS COUNT report—fewer kids are obese and more parents have steady work, though more children now lack health insurance and face poverty.
