COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On June 14th, hundreds gathered downtown for day 2 of the No Kings Protest as local residents voiced their concerns over leadership and policy changes. Videos show that the demonstration remains active today — police are monitoring the situation closely.  Live 5 News

CRIME NEWS

  • North Charleston police said three people were injured in a targeted shooting Saturday night on the 2000 block of Comstock Avenue around 9:35 p.m., with one victim found at Beech Avenue with a gunshot wound and two others walking to local hospitals for treatment plus detectives ruled out random violence.  ABC 4 News
  • Officers went to a mobile home park in Summerville around 8 p.m. Saturday for a welfare check and heard gunfire that injured one suspect when an officer fired his gun—SPD said there is no ongoing public threat as SLED began investigating.  ABC 4 News
  • Charleston Police charged a teen for a downtown shooting—two people were injured and investigators continue to probe the case.  Live 5 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • S.C. Sen. Wes Climer is suing lawmakers over an $18,000 pay raise for legislators that will take effect in July—he argues the $1,500 a month increase in the in-district expense allotment violates the state Constitution. The state Supreme Court has fast tracked his case and a hearing is expected soon.  Charleston City Paper

  • Saturday night, Charleston Battery extended its undefeated run with a 2-1 win over Hartford Athletic as MD Myers scored early and Houssou Landry added a goal shortly after halftime while Hartford scored late. The team will play Miami FC on June 18 and host Phoenix Rising on June 21.  ABC 4 News
