- ➤ Destiny Worship Center is hosting a free food giveaway for community members today at 10 a.m. at 3625 Azalea Drive in North Charleston—food will be handed out until supplies run out and participants are asked to remain in their cars. ABC 4 News
- ➤ Ronald McDonald House of Charleston is expanding its parking lot with MUSC donating the land for 70 new rooms, and the project will break ground on June 26 to help more families get support while their children get treatment. - ➤ Former North Charleston police officer Larne Demarcio Green, 40 years old, was arrested after SLED investigated a May 19 incident near Azalea Square in Summerville where he allegedly blocked vehicle exits, pointed an unholstered firearm, and struck a person, and he faces charges of domestic violence 1st degree, misconduct in office, two counts of kidnapping, and pointing and presenting a firearm at a person—his bond was set at $25,000 with the case to be handled by the 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office. - ➤ A 25-year-old man named Jermaine Brown from Orangeburg was killed in North Charleston on Thursday after he was struck in a hit-and-run collision around midnight on Otranto Road — detectives are searching for the driver. Count On 2
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, SCDNR workers, partners, and volunteers are restoring oyster reefs and shorelines at Parris Island by placing 500 feet of oyster castles to strengthen the coast and create homes for fish—this large project is funded by the Veterans Affairs Military Enhancement Fund. The build involves teams from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Port Royal, Global Eco Adventures, and Coastal Carolina University and is the largest one-day effort to date—showing strong public and legislative support.
