- ➤ On Tuesday, a South Carolina Department of Natural Resources committee declared the state drought free after 10 to 15 inches of rain in the past 60 days improved water levels and returned nine counties including Charleston to normal status. The committee said it will continue to monitor conditions and reconvene in late July or early August. ABC 4 News

- ➤ Charleston County Council passed a resolution Tuesday evening opposing offshore drilling off the coast because officials said drilling could trigger oil spills and harm beaches, wetlands — and the local tourism economy; the move follows a recent update to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s five-year plan. - ➤ Officials from Dorchester County, MUSC Health and state and federal agencies will break ground on Monday at a new 6,336-square-foot primary care facility in St. George that is planned to serve local communities.
