- ➤ After her daughter was killed while jogging, Lynette Ranz started the Lindsay Taylor Ranz Foundation to fight for safer crosswalks in Charleston—she works with local groups to fund signs, bracelets and flashlights that remind drivers to slow down at busy intersections. ABC 4 News

- ➤ A 33-year-old man from Summerville was arrested Wednesday after he threatened to blow up the First Circuit Solicitor’s Office when his request to have his criminal record expunged was denied on June 25 (officers later located him during a truck sale at his residence) and he is now held at L.C. - ➤ Charleston police arrested several suspects on Eastside for alleged drug distribution near schools after complaints about activity in Mall Park and Hampstead Square — one suspect remains at large. ABC 4 News
- ➤ Dorchester County deputies used a car sale hoax to arrest a suspect (allegedly linked to a bomb threat) in a planned operation. Live 5 News
- ➤ A Goose Creek man, Loney Leroy Garrett, 77, was charged with 35 counts of animal cruelty after police found over 30 dogs locked in unsanitary conditions and discovered animal remains during a June 22 investigation on his property—his son also faces a count of ill treatment. Count On 2
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune will lead a 5:30 p.m. rosary service at Harmon Field on July 9 to honor Irish immigrants buried between 1841 and 1927 on Charleston’s west side—attendees will recite the names of 214 Irish individuals while bagpipe melodies fill the air during the hour-long ceremony. Volunteer researcher Julie Bowling said the event is part of efforts to recognize those interred at Tower Hill Cemetery and to encourage future plans for a memorial garden. Charleston City Paper
