ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Charleston authorities identified 19-year-old Jarico Myron Nelson as the pedestrian fatally struck Monday morning on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard at Dupont Road in West Ashley — he died at the scene and the Charleston Police Department is investigating the collision — with no further details available. - ➤ Charleston County sheriff’s office is asking residents to help locate a dark-colored 2017 or 2018 Infinity G50 that struck and killed Tyler Talley on July 12 near the 5300 block of Cherry Hill Road in Hollywood—no witnesses have come forward despite evidence of front-end damage on the vehicle. - ➤ At around 10:30 p.m. July 13, a red Fiat driven by Kevin Serrano — charged with felony DUI counts — exploded on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston, critically injuring two women trapped in a flipped Toyota. The Post and Courier

- ➤ Gas prices in South Carolina rose by 4.0 cents per gallon last week to an average of $2.76, with the lowest station at $2.41 and the highest at $3.09 according to GasBuddy data. The national average also increased by 2.0 cents to $3.11 as oil prices inched higher. ABC 4 News
- ➤ Yesterday, Charleston International Airport broke ground on a $105 million West Gates expansion that will add 40,000 square feet of passenger space and 23,000 square feet of operational space with a 15% increase in gate capacity—officials say the project will boost international and domestic flights by the end of 2026. - ➤ A female dolphin named Lucky was rescued from a shallow tidal lagoon in Hampton Lake by the Bluffton Township Fire District, Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network + local residents after heavy rains trapped her near the May River. Firefighters guided her with a marine rescue tarp and utility trailer before releasing her into deeper water just before 6 p.m. Count On 2
- ➤ A nearly 8-foot dolphin — known as Lucky — was rescued July 12 from a Bluffton lagoon when heavy rains trapped her in shallow water; multiple agencies — including the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network — carried her 75 yards to safety and released her into deeper water in the May River.
