CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rashad Brown, a 35-year-old man, was arrested on July 18th at a Sunoco gas station on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston for allegedly shoving a store clerk to the ground and robbing the station—he faces charges of strong-armed robbery and second-degree assault and battery—and is held at Hill Finklea Detention Center. - ➤ A Berkeley County judge accepted an agreement on July 18 that 77-year-old Loney Leroy Garrett permanently relinquished custody of 35 dogs and one guinea pig to Charleston Animal Society—who has cared for the animals since they were seized on July 2 from a Goose Creek property with poor living conditions. The Post and Courier
- ➤ On July 18, a jury convicted 22-year-old Efrain Hernandez-Montero for a violent assault and related charges after he attacked his girlfriend on April 3, 2022—part of the incident was captured on a Ring doorbell—and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The Post and Courier
