- ➤ All lanes on the Ravenel Bridge reopened Monday morning after an incident caused major delays for drivers leaving Mount Pleasant—trips on Highway 17 to West Ashley took 68 minutes as officials advised caution on alternate routes. ABC 4 News

- ➤ A Berkeley County family sued Delta after the family’s iPad was left on a Delta flight at JFK, later stolen and showing explicit videos of an alleged employee pleasuring himself — the suit charges negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual assault and harassment after repeated lost-and-found reports went unanswered. - ➤ On July 2, authorities in Goose Creek rescued 35 abused dogs and arrested 77-year-old Loney Leroy Garrett on more than 70 charges of mistreatment+ local shelters cared for the animals while legal advocates noted that although South Carolina earned a 'most improved' rating for animal cruelty law changes, the state still ranks near the bottom nationally and calls for stricter penalties are growing. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sullivans Island residents and town officials met Monday morning to discuss dredging Cove Creek—sediment has made the water shallow and unsafe for boaters and swimmers while increasing pollution risks. Town members examined permitting and cost issues as they planned to continue the discussion next Monday. Count On 2
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A hearing is set for today at 10 a.m. at the U.S. District Court (85 Broad Street) downtown for a lawsuit by townhome owners who say the evacuation order in February lacked proper authority and violated their rights by including homes while sparing businesses. The suit asks for a permanent injunction to let residents return and to cover costs after an engineering report warned that nearby structures could be at risk if the condo tower collapsed. Count On 2
- ➤ Charleston will build two modern recreation centers in West Ashley and Johns Island that will have indoor pools, playgrounds, sports courts and more. The design phase is funded by $3.3 million from the Parks Bond Referendum and will begin this summer 2026—public input sessions will help shape the final plans. Charleston Regional Business Journal
