ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office identified 25-year-old Andrew Helms from Ladson as the motorcyclist killed in a College Park Road crash on Wednesday evening. The collision happened when a 2013 Toyota SUV turned left onto Corporate Parkway+ officials are investigating the incident.  Count On 2

  • On July 26, 2025, three suspects entered a storage shed at Philip Simmons High School on Daniel Island and vandalized school property with racially offensive graffiti and a swastika, and police are asking anyone with information to contact them (843-720-2422).  City of Charleston

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dorchester District 4 has launched a competitive esports club at a middle school and a high school ahead of the new school year. The district said the program will let students compete in team games and build digital skills—offering local youth more chances to get involved.  Live 5 News
  • The Charleston County School District has launched a back-to-school hotline—available from August 7th to 13th, except August 10th and 11th from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.—to help local families with last minute questions as students will begin school next week; call 843-444-5417 for assistance.  ABC 4 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Wednesday, Judge Roger M. Young dismissed the city of Charleston’s lawsuit against major oil companies that sought billions for protecting residents from rising sea levels and climate change effects. The ruling stated that the claims fall under federal law—leaving the city to consider an appeal.  Charleston City Paper

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • IFA Rotorion, a global auto parts supplier, has leased a 448,765-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility at Charleston Trade Center in Summerville - Avison Young brokers from Chicago and Charlotte facilitated the lease, noting the building benefits from nearby Port of Charleston access and a strong local labor pool.  Charleston Regional Business Journal
