- ➤ North Charleston police arrested three people during a search warrant at Charleston Lodge on Aug. 4—officers uncovered large amounts of illegal narcotics including cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA, and fentanyl, and three firearms—and the suspects face charges for drug possession and unlawful firearm possession. - ➤ North Charleston police arrested Tony Smalls, 38, a convicted felon, Saturday after a traffic stop at the intersection of Rivers—Aviation when officers smelled marijuana and searched the car, recovering a stolen pistol for which he now faces charges for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. - ➤ SC Water Utilities will merge its four Lowcountry systems into one regional utility to serve 7,000 customers + cut costs and improve reliability. The company said the move will evenly share expenses and support better infrastructure investments across the area. Charleston Regional Business Journal

- ➤ At 11 a.m. today, officials reported that Hurricane Erin remains a strong storm and has recently intensified to Category 5. Emergency crews are monitoring its path & advising coastal residents to follow safety instructions. Live 5 News

- ➤ The City of Charleston will host a public meeting on Monday, Aug. 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Founders Hall to present plans for new office buildings at 1660 and 1662 Ingram Road in West Ashley — residents can register to receive meeting materials if they cannot attend. City of Charleston
- ➤ The South Carolina Ports Authority celebrated Monday the final funding step of its 12-year Charleston Harbor Deepening Project as federal reimbursement of $21.28 million deepened the harbor from 45 feet to 52 feet—allowing larger ships to dock at all tides.
