ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • After two accidents at the Isle of Palms Marina, residents have urged more safety measures following Saturday night's event when a rideshare driver was pulled from a sinking car due to a GPS error during heavy rain—visitors say higher hazards are needed after a similar September incident.  Count On 2

  • Goose Creek officers chased Brian Williams Gibson after Flock cameras spotted his stolen vehicle from Salisbury, and Berkeley County deputies used spike strips when he drove on the wrong side of the road from Commerce Creek Way in Moncks Corner to College Park Road in Summerville—Gibson now faces charges including failure to stop and driving under suspension.  Count On 2

  • Medical University of South Carolina has proposed an Innovation District that may transform downtown Charleston by boosting tech and healthcare partnerships—officials and university leaders plan to advance the proposal to spur local economic growth.  Live 5 News

  • South Carolina emergency management officials reminded residents to be prepared for earthquakes—after a series of quakes were recorded in Greenwood County, including a magnitude 1.7 event on Aug. 25—and advised homeowners to verify if their insurance covers earthquake damage.  Count On 2
