- ➤ The Summerville RECC Club hosted a kids' night out on Aug. 28 at the Rollins Edwards Community Center in Summerville—children aged 6 to 13 played games like line tag, capture the flag, and dodge ball while enjoying pizza and soda. Tickets were $15 for one child and $25 for two siblings while families were asked to bring water bottles and notify organizers about dietary needs in advance. ABC 4 News

- ➤ The Charleston Animal Society reported—on July 1, 18 small dogs were abandoned near a busy Goose Creek intersection with one dog dying after a vehicle strike—and is offering a $2,500 reward for information to help arrest the suspect. My TV Charleston
- ➤ On Aug. 26, Judge Thomas Rode approved a $200,000 settlement that will provide Megan Rich’s minor children only $95,000 after fees—following her murder by ex-boyfriend Brian Curtis Baker on Aug. 12, 2022, who then took his own life amid ongoing probate disputes. The Post and Courier

- ➤ A new mural festival called MELT Charleston will run from Sept. 11—14 along Reynolds Avenue in North Charleston, where seven artists will paint building walls to show local art. - ➤ On Wednesday, the South Carolina Aquarium released five rescued Kemp’s ridley sea turtles at Folly Beach while about 200 people watched the turtles—Seashore Mallow, Sunflower, Marigold, Hyacinth and Sweet Caroline—dive into the ocean after being saved from hook injuries earlier this year.
