- ➤ The Survivors of Homicide Support Group will host a ceremony on Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center in North Charleston to mark the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims—families can honor loved ones with photos and may receive transportation assistance. - ➤ Nominations for Daniel Island board seats open Tuesday, Sept 30 and must be submitted by noon Oct 6—candidates can be nominated for the Town, Community, and Park Association boards. Elections will occur mid-October and board meetings will follow, while two boards will switch to owner control in January 2026. The Daniel Island News

- ➤ Dr. Sam McCown, a retired Lowcountry physician, announced his run for Congress in SC’s 1st District as Rep. Nancy Mace pursues a governor bid. - ➤ The City of Charleston, in collaboration with SCDOT and Mastec-Civil, implemented nighttime lane closures for Ashley River Crossing bridge construction by closing US 17 northbound from Albemarle Road to Lockwood Blvd. The closures began Monday, September 15th at 9:00 p.m. and ended today at 6:00 a.m. City of Charleston

- ➤ Dorchester County launched its Community Paramedic Program on Sept. 15 to offer residents personalized care without calling 911—paramedic Angelina Johnson uses home assessments to address issues like broken equipment, mobility challenges, and more. - ➤ Charleston County faces a housing crunch with average rents at $2,771 and a 50% population increase since 2000 that leaves many locals struggling to find stable homes—only 4,200 affordable units serve 424,367 people.
