- ➤ South Carolina is seeing a rapid increase in data centers that use lots of water and power, but the state does not track how many have been built — experts warn the unclear counts could lead to higher electric rates and stressed water supplies. The Post and Courier

- ➤ A new Realtor.com report finds that only ten states let retirees live on Social Security benefits if their mortgage is paid off, and South Carolina retirees earn an extra $828 per year. - ➤ Russian bankers hit by U.S. sanctions invested over $22 million in properties at Palmetto Bluff—transferring assets such as Sergey Khotimskiy’s home to his ex‐wife days before the sanctions took effect. The deals occurred around 2022 and highlight gaps in local real estate ownership rules. The Post and Courier
- ➤ FEMA is supporting southeastern states if Tropical Depression 9 nears the coast by deploying more than 100 staff and pre-positioning search and rescue teams. Henry McMaster won court approval on Thursday to intervene in a lawsuit over transferring 3.3 million voters' data to the DOJ—he supports the move as defending state law, while the Election Commission also dismissed its top two officials amid personnel concerns and case proceedings resumed on September 26.
