- ➤ The North Charleston Boys and Girls Club received a $25,000 donation from the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday at Bridge View Elementary Charter to boost a mobile computer lab for local children. Mayor Reggie Burgess thanked the Hornets for their support—calling the gift a blessing for the community. ABC 4 News

- ➤ A fire broke out on Edisto Island at Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein’s home on Oct 4, injuring three people including her husband—a former state senator rescued by neighbors from marshy terrain—and state investigators are now examining the cause. The Post and Courier

- ➤ A recent episode of Futurama spoofed South of the Border—a famous roadside attraction on I-95—by showing a changed sign that reads 'South of the Bordersphere' and the episode aired on Sept. 15. - ➤ Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center now say a tropical wave in the Atlantic has a 70% chance of developing into at least a tropical depression in the next week — the system is expected to be the season’s 10th tropical depression as it moves quickly across the central Atlantic, and its effect on the southeast remains uncertain.
