  • Yesterday, Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum held a ceremony on the USS Yorktown to honor the Navy's 250th anniversary — veterans and their families gathered in the rain for cake cutting and fellowship, including a World War II veteran and a sailor who joined in 2012.  ABC 4 News
  • Serving Up Flavor, a new series on WCBD+ highlighting Lowcountry food, will stream on October 17th. Hosted by Dalilah James and Jameson Moyer, the first episode features Moncks Corner native Brittney Simmons of Britt Bratt Garlic Crabs—whose business grew from selling seafood out of her car into a local favorite.  Count On 2

  • Erosion has left large piles of sand along the shoreline at Sullivan's Island, causing concern for residents and officials. Local experts are monitoring the situation to assess any impacts on beach safety.  Live 5 News
  • On Oct 10, as heavy rain and a king tide flooded parts of the peninsula, local diver Jessie Fisher Coleman of Port City Diving Company dove in water about 2.5 to 3 feet deep on Lockwood Drive—he captured photos after finishing work on four boats at Safe Harbor Bristol marina.  The Post and Courier

  • Researchers at the University of South Carolina found that most school shootings involve few victims and occur when young men access unsecured guns from family or friends.
