  • Charleston entrepreneurs Margaret Seeley and Dawn Spann launched LouLou AI—built to reduce staffing worries—in August 2024 to help hotels, restaurants and spas answer calls. The system customizes its tone for each business and connects with booking platforms like OpenTable and Resy—six contracts are now testing nationwide.  Charleston Regional Business Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • In North Charleston, community members and allies gathered at Commonhouse Aleworks to mark the start of the six-day Park Circle Pride festival that supports local nonprofits like Alliance for Full Acceptance and We Are Family. City officials read a proclamation for Pride Month and the event featured a flag-raising ceremony and Palmetto Peace Choir performance—festival continues through Sunday, June 8.  ABC 4 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A coastal low is expected to bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and dangerous rip currents to our area today into Thursday if it stays offshore — the National Weather Service predicts one to three inches of rain while the National Hurricane Center gives a 10% chance for the low to develop tropical features.  Count On 2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A USDA-funded program giving seniors $50 for local produce kicked off Sunday and now every county in South Carolina is participating. In Charleston County, seniors can pick up checks today at Mount Horr AME in Hollywood (open from 10 a.m. to noon) and must use them by Oct. 15.  Live 5 News
  • South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced Tuesday that the state is expected to receive over $70 million over the next 15 years from a $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family — funds that will support opioid addiction treatment, prevention and recovery programs — in a move to hold them accountable.  ABC 4 News
  • Several residents reported receiving fraudulent text messages that claimed to be from the South Carolina DMV, and officials confirmed the messages include a suspicious link — Hanahan Police warned locals on Tuesday that the DMV never texts and advised deleting these messages.  My TV Charleston

  • Four Seasons officials confirmed plans on Tuesday for a new luxury hotel and private residences in Charleston’s historic district. The eight-story development, built on the former Days Inn site, will include 139 guest rooms and 36 branded residences with prices starting at $5 million—completion is expected in 2028.  My TV Charleston
